Kevin Ryan’s multiple Stakes winner Washington Heights has been declared to run at Deauville on Sunday, where he goes for a fourth career Listed success.
The six-year-old son of Washington DC has amassed close to £400,000 in career prize money, adding to that tally when landing the rearranged Listed Achilles Stakes at Carlisle in late May.
Kevin Ryan reports sprinter in fine form
Last year’s City Walls Stakes winner is no stranger to travelling, having taken the Bro Park Sprint in Sweden and finished runner-up in the Group 3 Dukhan Stakes in Qatar. He lines up as one of 13 declared runners in the five-furlong Listed Prix du Cercle.
Hambleton’s Director of Racing Simon Turner gave an upbeat report ahead of the trip.
“Kevin reports Washington Heights to be training as well as ever. He has always taken his travelling well and a reproduction of his latest win should put him bang in the mix. With that in mind, we head across the Channel optimistic of another big run.”
The Prix du Cercle is run over the straight 1,000 metres on an afternoon headlined by the Group 1 ARC Prix Maurice de Gheest, so there is no shortage of quality on the card.
