Hambleton Racing has opened places in two new 2026 yearling syndicates, the syndicates will be built around two of the leading trainers in the North of England, Karl Burke and Kevin Ryan. Both have long and successful relationships with Hambleton Racing and strong records when it comes to finding quality horses at the yearling sales.
Rather than buying a share in a named horse, owners are effectively backing the team to find the right horse at the sales later this year.
For those who enjoy the sales side of racing, that can add another level of interest. Owners can follow the process from the purchase of the yearling through its early education and, hopefully, on to the racecourse as a two-year-old in 2027.
Karl Burke 2026 Autumn Yearling Syndicate
The first new option will see Hambleton Racing return to Karl Burke, one of the most successful Flat trainers in Britain.
Burke has built an outstanding record from Spigot Lodge in Middleham and has become particularly well known for his success with young horses.
His ability to identify talent without always needing to spend huge sums at the sales is one of the main reasons this syndicate could prove attractive.
A recent example is Half Sovereign, who was bought for just 12,000gns in 2024. After developing into a Group 3 winner, she was later sold for €2.4 million.
It was an exceptional return on the original purchase price and another example of Burke’s eye for a young horse.
His results on the racecourse have been equally impressive. In 2025, Burke trained 39 Stakes winners, with his runners winning major races both in Britain and overseas.
Hambleton Racing also has plenty of previous experience with the yard.
Gentle Warrior and Strength Of Spirit are among the recent Hambleton yearling purchases to have gone on to win several races for their owners while competing at a good level.
That existing relationship is important because places at Spigot Lodge are in high demand.
A one-twelfth share in the Karl Burke Autumn Yearling Syndicate will cost a maximum of £5,000.
The final cost could be lower depending on the price paid for the horse at the sales.
Monthly all-inclusive costs will be £325 from October, while a place in the syndicate can currently be reserved with a £500 deposit.
Kevin Ryan 2026 Goffs Premier Syndicate
The second option follows a formula that has already produced a long list of winners for Hambleton Racing.
Kevin Ryan will once again head to the Goffs Premier Yearling Sale at Doncaster looking for a horse for the 2026 Goffs Premier Syndicate.
Ryan’s record with Hambleton purchases from this sale is particularly strong.
Hambleton’s first two-year-old with the trainer, Mazzanti, was bought at the Goffs Premier Sale and became a winning juvenile.
The success of later purchases led Hambleton to begin taking reservations for the syndicate before the sale, allowing existing and new owners to secure their place before knowing exactly which horse would eventually carry their colours.
The figures explain why the syndicate has become so popular.
Since 2006, 81 per cent of the yearlings Hambleton has bought from Doncaster have gone on to win a race. Over the past six years, that figure has risen to 86 per cent.
Perhaps most strikingly, every one of those winners cost £35,000 or less.
There have also been some notable individual success stories.
Washington Heights cost £24,000 and has developed into a high-class sprinter, taking his career earnings to almost £400,000 after recording his third Listed victory in May.
Atomic Force, bought for £22,000, became a Group winner before being sold for a large profit.
Kodiak Breeze is another recent example. Purchased for £18,000, he finished second on debut before winning his next two starts and has continued to show promise as a two-year-old.
Ryan and the Hambleton team have repeatedly found strong, forward young horses at sensible prices, many of which have quickly proved capable of winning races.
A one-twelfth share in the 2026 Goffs Premier Syndicate will cost no more than £4,000.
Again, that figure is a maximum and the actual price could be lower depending on the eventual purchase.
A share can currently be reserved with a £500 deposit.

Getting Involved Before the Horse Is Bought
These two syndicates are slightly different from buying into a horse that is already in training.
At this stage there is no horse name, pedigree or photograph to study. Instead, owners are reserving their place and putting their faith in Hambleton Racing and two trainers with long records of finding good horses at the sales.
For some owners, that is part of the appeal.
The ownership experience begins at the sales rather than at the racecourse. Once the horse is bought, members can then follow its development from an unraced yearling into training and towards its first race.
The Karl Burke syndicate has a maximum initial share price of £5,000, while the Kevin Ryan Goffs Premier Syndicate has a maximum share price of £4,000. Both can currently be reserved for £500.
With Burke and Ryan responsible for finding the horses, Hambleton Racing is once again giving its owners the chance to get involved at the very start of the process.
