There is no shortage of tipping services online but many of them require you to sign up and pay a monthly fee. Prices can range from a couple of quid to hundreds of pounds. In the old days it was all premium line numbers, today the tipsters are to be found online. Personally I think you’d be mad to pay for a tipping service when so many good tipsters are offering their naps for free!

In this post I take a quick look at some of the more popular free betting tips websites and twitter accounts. Having a gamble and losing is bad enough, but paying twice for losing bets is a real kick in the teeth!

One of the most popular free racing tips website is: www.freeracingtips.co.uk it’s currently boasts over 60,000 members and provides two free tips daily for members. Joining is free but they also offer a premium service which they claim has a 50% higher strike rate then the average mug punter. You can also follow the tips on twitter and facebook. You’ve really got nothing to lose by trying the free service and should the free tips prove profitable you can always sign up for the premium service at a later date.

Another great site is OLBG, it’s a huge community of racing fans. Joining is free and you can get involved on all the forums and follow their daily free tips, OLBG also provide ‘Lay’ tips for those of you who punt on Betfair. Laying losers can be more profitable than backing winners! OLBG is a massive site and covers nearly every major sport you could think of, you’ll also find the latest free bet offers from online bookmakers.

If you’ve not discovered twitter yet then you’re in for a treat, twitter seems to be the default social platform for all things horse racing. You can follow all the top jockeys, trainers and tipsters. Be careful, Twitter is way more addictive than gambling! Once you start reading updates from Tony McCoy and following the top trainers like Donald McCain you’ll be hooked. I tend to only use twitter on my mobile phone, just download the twitter app from itunes store (free) or Android Store and start following the people you’re interested in. Popular tipsters on tweeter include: twitter.com/racingtips who has over 30,000 followers, twitter.com/Tweet_Naps runs tipping comps, twitter.com/racing_tips has 20,000 followers and also keeps you up to date with racing news. twitter.com/guardian_sport also feature the daily tips from the website.

I hope you find the info useful, be sure to let me know if you have any success following the tips.
